I have an eCommerce store on WordPress with WooCommerce. Shoppers can check out as "guest" or register for an account to sign in and see their past orders and so on, but you don't have to make a purchase to register.
In order to register you need to solve a ReCaptcha (Version 3, set to a sensitivity of 0.7 and that I upped to 1 in an attempt to resolve this, but it made no difference) and then activate the account via the link that's sent to the registration email (I have tested all of this today and this is all still fine/working as it should).
Despite all of this, in the last few days I've been getting around 20-30 bot/spam sign ups per day, which seems to serve no real purpose as they can't do anything, but I want to resolve it of course.
THE BUDGET IS A PLACEHOLDER, PROPOSALS ARE REQUESTED IN LINE WITH YOUR STANDARD RATES. Please note I will almost certainly be hiring an outsourced/non-UK worker, but you MUST be a competent English speaker and able to communicate with me (potentially by phone if I am uncertain, but overall I prefer messages) without the use of a translation tool.
I am very well versed with both working on and hiring on PPH and will immediately delete any copy/paste generic proposals, and the majority that are simply submitted at the placeholder rate with no explanation in the hopes that the scattergun approach will eventually win a project - it won't be this one.
If you wish to submit a proposal, please send ONLY the following information - no copy/paste proposals, essays, or "cover letter" type info, just this unless requested:
• Your hourly rate or if you prefer, a fixed/flat rate for the task. • Information on how much time you would need to handle the project/when you could do it, and if quoting hourly, how many hours of work this will take. • If you are unable to guide on price/time without access to the back end of the site, please provide a guide of minimum and maximum or any rough estimate. • A one-paragraph description of your experience specifically with WordPress/WooCommerce. • Any information to support your proposal demonstrating an understanding of this issue or handling similar problems of this type/issues with bot sign ups and similar, something that makes you stand out as competent for this. • Please note that back end access to the site will only be considered for anyone i wish to hire or if I have a couple of people on a shortlist who require access to identify the issue and provide a firm quote.
The url is pollyonapole.com and the problem is arising in the signs ups "Account" "Register" page (well, I am as sure as I can be of that, anyway), please don't register/activate an account there to try to replicate the issue without talking to me first as this is only going to confuse things from my end monitoring and deleting spam sign-ups!
I promise I'm not as miserable to work with as the way I have explained these criteria might imply - I am just trying to cut down on the large number of irrelevant and generic proposals I know I will receive for this.
Finally, I do have a fairly long list of other things I want tweaked/minor bugs fixed on the site in other areas, so there will definitely be the possibility of follow-on work for the right person.
